This was my second one the last one only lasted a year. I was very careful with it cleaned it every two weeks as well as change the sponge and the filter. After cleaning it I went to turn it on and it would not start. So I eas able to get another the following day. I was very pleased at that.

Not silent but fairly quiet – update with water trickling noise fix!
Update: our fountain eventually started making a distractingly LOUD water trickling sound. Not a pump noise, but the sound of water trickling. Turns out, we had a faulty filter! It was not as permeable as the other six filters we had used so far. It wasn’t letting water pass through at a sufficient rate and water in the clear plastic tray was trickling out of the corner slots into the reservoir below. I replaced that brand-new (faulty) filter with another brand-new one and this is letting water pass through more quickly. Trickling sound eliminated. Fountain back to being silent. Whew!Original review:We’ve been using this fountain for about a month now. When we first cleaned, assembled, filled, and plugged it in, the pump was SILENT. I was delighted. There is the occasional gentle water trickle noise which I find rather nice. The fountain sits about six feet away from my recliner in an otherwise silent house.After two days of use, the pump began making a very low hum. After another couple of days, the vibrations from the pump were strong enough to cause the stainless tray to rattle loudly on the plastic reservoir base. We tried cleaning and re-seating the pump in the base, adjusting how the stainless tray sits, with the flower insert and without, topped up with water to the fill mark, everything we could think of. The pump has suction-cup feet that not only secure it in the reservoir but provide a small amount of vibration-damping. They weren’t up to the job, however. If the fountain were in another part of the house, I might have been able to ignore the noise. One of our cats was still drinking from the fountain but the other one was giving it a wide berth once it started rattling.We contacted the manufacturer, described the issue, and they sent us a replacement pump. The replacement pump has behaved the same way; entirely silent for the first two days, then developing vibrations that transmit through the fountain and cause the stainless top tray to rattle. So far, the noise level is not quite up to what the first pump degenerated to. It is not intolerable to me but one cat still doesn’t want anything to do with it.If the pump hadn’t been dead silent at the outset, I might have just assumed that this was the normal amount of noise to be expected from this fountain. Perhaps the models with the plastic trays behave differently than the stainless one. We do have a small decorative tabletop fountain in the office, made of slate and copper, and there is no noise from that pump. The weight of the fountain itself is probably the difference there.Other than the vibration issue from the pump, it seems to be a good drinking fountain. The rest of the design is good, relatively easy to clean.Update: if you fiddle with the various fountain components enough, you can eventually get rid of the vibration hum from the pump. The suction cup pump feet sometimes need to be pressed down more tightly to the reservoir, or sometimes less tightly. It is kind of finnicky but once I’ve chased the vibration noise out, it’s usually good til the next time I disassemble, clean, and refill. It’s worth it, in my mind. The cats like it, so I’m okay with a little troubleshooting.

Cat loves this but not as a drinking fountain
I brought home the Eken 95oz/2.8L Pet Fountain with high hopes of encouraging my feline friend, to help him drink more water. Let’s just say the results have been… entertaining, to say the least.The Fun Factor:This fountain is a certified hit with my cat! The different water flow options, the gentle stream or the bubbling flower, are like a built-in water park for her. She spends ages batting at the water, trying to catch the droplets, and lapping enthusiastically (or at least that’s what I like to think!).The Hydration Question:Now, here’s the thing: while my cat is having a blast playing with the fountain, I’m not entirely convinced she’s actually drinking much water. Maybe it’s the moving water that throws her off, or perhaps the stream isn’t quite gentle enough for her delicate whiskers. Either way, I haven’t noticed a significant increase in her water consumption.The Upkeep:On the bright side, the Eken fountain is easy to disassemble and clean. The parts come apart easily, and the included instructions are clear. However, the playfulness can come at a cost. my cat’s enthusiasm sometimes leads to splashing, which means more frequent cleaning around the base of the fountain.Overall:The Eken Pet Fountain is a fantastic cat toy in disguise! It’s kept my cat entertained for hours, and the different flow options add variety to her playtime. However, if your primary goal is to increase your cat’s water intake, you might need a different approach.Here’s my recommendation:This fountain might be a good choice for cats who are already avid water drinkers and enjoy playing with moving water.If your cat is hesitant about drinking water, consider pairing the fountain with a wider, shallower water bowl placed in a quiet location.Be prepared for some potential splashing and more frequent cleaning if your cat is a water-loving playmate.The Eken Pet Fountain is a fun addition for playful cats, but keep your hydration goals in mind before making a purchase.
