A Lifesaver for Babyproofing
I recently purchased the Safety 1st Outlet Cover with Cord Shortener, and it has been a game-changer in keeping my home safe for my little one. This product not only works exceptionally well but is also incredibly easy to use.Installation was a breeze, and I had these covers in place within minutes. The design is clever and unobtrusive, seamlessly blending with my home decor. What impressed me the most is the cord shortener feature, which neatly manages and conceals cords, eliminating any tripping hazards and making the room look tidier. Most importantly, this product gives me peace of mind. I feel confident that my child is safe around electrical outlets, and the robust construction of these covers ensures that curious little fingers won’t be able to access the sockets. It’s comforting to know that my child is protected from potential electrical hazards. In summary, the Safety 1st Outlet Cover with Cord Shortener is a must-have for any household with young children. It’s not only a practical and functional solution but also a product that will help you feel more at ease knowing your child is safe. I highly recommend it to all parents looking to babyproof their homes.

Hard to open even for an adult
Definitely child proof because I’m an adult and it’s still tricky! That’s a plus in my opinion. The outlet for my baby’s camera is right behind her crib and I wanted it protected when she starts getting interested in stuff like that. Looks nice on the wall and can be installed in either direction so the cords can come out top or bottom. All I needed was a flathead screwdriver to change out the face plate of the outlet so install was very simple. This was the best price for an outlet cover on Amazon and I think the quality is good so it’s a really good value.

Functional but weird color
Super easy install, and does the most important job which is keeping the baby away from plug in. I use it in her bedroom to cover the outlet for the baby monitor. My baby uses a floor bed, so her room needs to be 100% safe if she gets up in the morning. The only negative is the color. I was expecting a white color, and as you can see it is more of a yellow color.

Made my life much easier.
Living with a toddler isn’t easy. If you don’t know that yet you will soon. A toddler is like a scientist with no fear and a similar–but different language. The difference being: when you say “no” that means “do exactly what you’re about to do, with a smile.”That’s what I’m dealing with. So many timeouts and explanations and bribes (yes bribes) seem to be fruitless so far. Our 2 year old son is fascinated with outlets and fans. If a fan is off, he wants it on. If it’s on, he wants it off. It never ends. He unplugs the fan and plugs it back in when he gets even a second of a chance. I’ve been persistent with keeping him away from them, and was hoping he would just forget after a day or two. This has gone on for about a month now. I don’t know why he’s so obsessed with fans and it’s nothing else.So it got to the point I would hide the fans and not use them. I would put them up in the closet when he wasn’t looking. Whenever he went into a room he would just say fan over and over. The problem is were on the second floor apartment and it’s been hot without air conditioning. So we really need the fans right now.So if he doesn’t listen and doesn’t forget, and I can’t remove the problem… I have to make it impossible for him to unplug them. Regular outlet covers work great for outlets that aren’t being used. I had no idea they had covers that work outlets being used! I’m so happy I found this!!!!I am so so so so so happy I found this!!!!I installed them today and they are a breeze to install. Our son can’t get into it and he can’t pull out the cord. The cover is simple enough to remove for adults without being annoying. That’s huge for me.because we tend to move stuff around a lot. This outlet cover will not work with every outlet and every plug in you have. There’s limited amount of space on the inside. And as I’ve shown in the photos, the cord needs to be thin enough to pin in the two slots provided. This won’t work for any of the power strips I own. Which isn’t a bad thing because it kinda defeats the purpose.I just can’t say how much this has improved my life. It’s a major deterrent. I watched him approach it the first time and after two good pulls he gave up. He hasn’t been back since. Not to say he still doesn’t mess with the fans. He knows how to use the on/off switch. But this is much less frustrating because I’m not worried about him hurting himself anymore. After seeing how well they are doing today, I just now bought a bunch more to be used with all the outlets we frequently use. There were other outlet covers that were higher quality, but the price was rediculous. Over 10$ for just one. I’ll stick with these.

Great cover!
We have a monitor by our babies crib which plugs into an outlet right next to his crib, where he can easily reach. I did it this way because it made it easier to run the power cord around molding we have to keep it out of his reach, but it meant the power supply would be in easy reach once he was sitting up and crawling around.I settled on this cover as it looked to be big enough to fully cover the power supply, unlike many others. I also ran the wire behind the wall, probably not allowed by electrical code oops! But it made sure he could never reach it as it comes out much higher up.The only issue I had was I installed board and batten in his room and this outlet was RIGHT next to a vertical board. Unfortunately I had to cut and modify the cover some to make it work, but it still works great!!It fully covers both outlets and the power supply, even though the power supply juts our quite a bit and the power cord is a USB cable that plugs in to the end. So all in all that sticks out quite a bit. The cover is also not easy to remove. Easy enough for an adult, but too hard for a baby to easily knock off.He recently found this after rolling around in the crib and was playing with it, but it wasnât very brief. He obviously got bored of it once it didnât do anything and stopped messing with it and I havenât seen him mess with it since. Had this not been there he wouldâve easily been able to grab the power cord or power supply. So while it is kind of big and bulky, it was exactly what we needed and it has already proven to be very useful in helping keep our kid safe!

Too basic
This doesnât fit plugs that are at 45° angles, nor does it fit cords that are thick. It does the job if you have super basic cord plugs. Iâm buying different outlet protectors at this point after a striking out with the new surge protector that is too thick apparently.

I modified this to fit a decora receptacle, there was the exact same product for $20 that fit decora, or this one that fit older style for $7, only took 3 minutes with a drill and Dremel and it works perfectly to defend my plugs from a relentless toddler bent on destructionIt is a slightly off white colour, and was suspiciously cheaper (in my haste and excitement at finding one $13 cheaper I didn’t notice it didn’t fit decora) than other similar products. But I am very pleased with its function, and the colour is not really noticeable at all, I do see other people complaining about it, as well as the receptacle type, but it is very clear in the photos and product description so I have no sympathy. I bought 3 and have only installed 1 so far but it has been excellent.

Works great for lamp or fan cords, but won’t fit a DC adapter. Lets you shorten the cords a bit as well, and it’s very difficult to get off for a kid (or even an adult). Would stand up to even the most determined toddler.

We use this for the baby monitor and sound machine. Easy to install but when I was putting the cover on it seemed like I was going to cut through the cords – really tight fit.
