    Somewhat Overlooked Punk Superstars
For people like me who grew up during the punk era or for people who want to discover old school punk music, this is your album. It has all the songs from the original vinyl release plus some cool bonus tracks. Sometimes bonus tracks are just garbage, but that’s not the case here, this is more good stuff. Television has a unique sound yet at the same time is pure old-school punk. I put the album in my CD player months ago and although the discs in the other slots have rotated, Marquee Moon is still in the mix. You won’t regret buying this album.

    Great CD in every way!
First off the packaging and booklet are beautiful. The Sound seems exceptional to my ears. The extra tracks alone make it a must have for those who already appreciate this band. The place to start if you want to explore. This is an exquisite album.I’ve heard it described as Early Punk. Very early it seems to me. There is no pretense of Punkness. They didn’t quite fit any particular category when they came on the scene. What made me get it when released were musician friends telling me about Tom Verlain’s guitar. Now I might have a funny idea of great guitarists. He fits in. I’m talking the likesof Adrian Belew of King Crimson andPhil Manzanera of Roxy Music. The solo works of both are superior to either of those great ground breaking and influential bands. Here we are back to the subject at hand.Verlaine’s guitar is nothing like either of those other two. What they all have in common is how influential they have been.Marque Moon was not a huge hit upon release. I hear it referred to as early punk.If Television are early punk, it is by the musical approach not the personas of what came to be punk. Punkness!I diverge again. Do any of you know the band Tex And The Horseheads? There is no CD. Get the vinyl on eBay if you can. The one with the horses on the cover.I know I go far afield here and worse, celebrity name drop. I ran into Courtney Love one day. I asked if she knew what had become of The Horseheads? She didn’t but we started getting into how great they were. She asked me, “How old are you anyway?”I told her too old but I saw them.I think I hear The Clash in this band. If you like thrashing punk and great songs start to finish get this.As for great, start to finish, that isMarque Moon. This CD is excellent. The booklet is very interesting and the inner covers have all the lyrics! Get it! You will be glad you did.

Very Good, But To Love It, You Had To Be There
I got this after seeing plenty of rave comments about this band for years. It’s good. But I feel like you needed to live through the arena rock nonsense that this blew away to really appreciate it. If you heard Boston so many times you wanted to puke, watched The Who and Led Zeppelin get crushed by their own inflated egos, and had all sorts of other terrible music thrust at you because listening to the radio was something people still did to learn about music back then, Television would come along and seem utterly wonderful. And it’s clear that they were highly influential. But if you were born in the 70s and grew up with a sizable body of art created by bands like Sonic Youth and the Pixies, saw David Bowie return to life touring with Nine Inch Nails and working with Brian Eno again, then bands like Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, and Faith No More were your equivalent of Television, wiping away the White Snake and Poison that clogged Dial MTV every day but you still watched it anyway.I do think that it would be worth going further into the music produced by the members of Television after this debut. But I think that this album is part of music history rather than a continuing revelation to new listeners.

    Absolutely Dope Album
Plays great. Love it. The twenty-something buck price of this new LP record was fair. A friend gave me a dubbed cassette copy of this back in the day, and I always thought it was just okay, while toodling around in my ‘83 Celica, the one with the vestigial rack on the trunk hood. (Those strips of wood were fancy!!) I am now a man with a half-century of of very impressive wisdom swirling majestically around in his skull, or so says the fella in the mirror, and I recently realized, by revisiting this awesome album on the yootoobs, what a masterpiece this is. Very happy to have it one vinyl. I just wish I had that Celica too!

    Marquee Moon: 2ndBest TELEVISION CD!
If you’re reading this, you are perhaps more curious about TELEVISION, the 1978’s Band, or maybe you’re a diehard fan like myself, or you might also be a fan of Tom Verlaine. If you’re new to TELEVISION, the late 1970’s Band, start with their very best CD/ Album: 1978’s TELEVISION’S ADVENTURE. The sonic quality, song writing, musical arrangements, lyrics, vocals and superb guitar work are all the best of all their work!! Or even their second-best work: TELEVISION MARQUEE MOON. The two CD’s of this review, TELEVISION’s: THE BLOW-UP, and TELEVISION’s “TELEVISION” are 2nd-Rate and 3rd-Rate, respectively! The BLOW-UP is a good historical diehard-fan performance of the band, TELEVISION and just 2nd-Rate. If you’re a real big, super diehard fan, the 3rd-Rate TELEVISION’s: “TELEVISION” is yet another historical CD performance. (Even so, as a die-hard fan, I like to listen to these lesser CD’s to observe how they progressed to ADVENTURE!)Here’s the context for my above comments: As a diehard fan of all the above mentioned in the first paragraph, these last two CD’s, I listen to 1/10th as often as their excellent ADVENTURE!! And 1/15th as often as their second best CD, MARQUEE MOON. If you’re still curious, just start with 1978’s TELEVISION’s: ADVENTURE! Enough said!?! Caio!
