The CBS Radio Mystery Theater was an ambitious effort by veteran radio producer Himan Brown to revive interest in American radio drama. Every night host E. G. Marshall (later Tammy Grimes) ushered listeners through a creaking door — similar to the one Brown used on Inner Sanctum decades earlier — for an hour of the fear you can hear.? Brown produced nearly 200 new episodes of Mystery Theater every year, using both original scripts and adaptations of classic stories by Edgar Allen Poe, Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The Mystery Theater brought many veterans from radio?s golden age back before the microphone, including Agnes Moorehead, Richard Widmark, Celeste Holm, Mercedes McCambridge and Howard daSilva. The show also featured performances from many up-and-coming stage and film actors, including Tony Roberts, John Lithgow, Morgan Fairchild, Mandy Patinkin and Sarah Jessica Parker. E. G. Marshall died on August 24, 1998. The CBS Radio Mystery Theater was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1990 EPISODES LIST ***74-01-06 0001 Old Ones Are Hard To Kill ***74-01-07 0002 Return of the Moresbys ***74-01-08 0003 Bullet ***74-01-09 0004 Lost Dog ***74-01-10 0005 No Hiding Place ***74-01-11 0006 Honeymoon With Death ***74-01-12 0007 I Warn You Three Times ***74-01-13 0008 Cold Storage ***74-01-14 0009 Death Rides a Stallion ***74-01-15 0010 Resident ***74-01-16 0011 Accounts Receivable ***74-01-17 0012 You can die again ***74-01-18 0013 A Ring Of Roses ***74-01-19 0014 Girl Who Found Things ***74-01-20 0015 The Chinaman Button ***74-01-21 0016 Dead For A Dollar ***74-01-22 0017 A Very Old Man ***74-01-23 0018 And Nothing But The Truth ***74-01-24 0019 Deadly Honeymoon ***74-01-25 0020 Speak Of The Devil ***74-01-26 0021 The Ring Of Truth ***74-01-27 0022 Time And Again ***74-01-28 0023 Three-Women ***74-01-29 0024 Man Who Heard Voices BONUS 12 EPISODES OF “FIVE AFTER THE HOUR” AND 12 EPISODES OF “BOX 13”

BEST PURCHASE EVER â¤ï¸ HAPPY IN NJ
These cdâs arrived beautifully and carefully packaged. I love listening to CBS MYSTERY THEATRE on different podcasts . Having them at my fingertips is a joy .I purchased Volume 1 & 2 so far. Itâs well worth the price for various reasons. Power outages or on the go listening with no commercials is priceless. The sound is excellent. This seller has so much to choose from and Iâll definitely be buying more.If I could give the review one hundred stars âï¸ I would.

A great value, excellent quality.
Wow, what to say. I was sooo excited to find this set (and others) I am completely happy with them. The quality is good considering that they were taken from tapes from the 70’s. Now I can listen to them anytime that I am not near a radio and don’t have to deal with the commercials either.RMT is one of my very favorites of Old Time Radio. I loved hearing the familiar sound of the creaking door opening at the beginning of the story when I popped in the first CD. I was also delighted to find that the vendor included two free discs from different series with the order. I know that was so I could sample other products that the manufacture and vendor carry too. In the future I just may see about a set from one of the free discs sent as well. I intend to expand on the collection as time goes by as well. I used to listen to them on the radio every Saturday night and am glad to have them as a welcome addition to my entertainment library. They are especially good when I am doing mindless repetitive tasks. The stories are always interesting and help to take the boredom out of tasks being done.

Entertaining.
I have fond memories of listening to these radio broadcasts when I was in middle school. I have been listening to these recorded shows, here and there, since I bought the two sets. Everything is great, except that it would be really nice if the shows were divided up into tracks. Maybe one track for Act 1, one track for Act 2, etc. As it is, if I don’t finish an entire show in one sitting (50 minutes, give or take), the next time I want to continue listening to a show, I have to hold the fast-forward button for a long time until I get near to the time where I left off. That would be my only complaint about the CDs. Otherwise, the shows are very entertaining.
