A great dark hockey read! Great
Dark hockey is one of my favorite tropes and Jo didnât disappoint Jack and Aviva. Aviva is a girl on a revenge mission. She is determined to find answers to help her brother heal and Jack Feldman is her in. Jack is one of the âcore fourâ hockey players are Reina. Heâs immediately obsessed with Aviva, so when he discovers her scheme, he blackmails her. Aviva doesnât let that stop her though. She will get answers, even if it means she canât be with Jack.Jack was the PERFECT mmc. He was obsessive, possessive, over the top, and everything I love in a hockey mmc. The mouth on this man was filthy in the best way. His dynamic with Aviva is so perverse, but despite that his obsession with her just keeps growing. Aviva was such a great FMC. She was spiteful in a good way with a fire that couldnât be put out no matter how hard Jack tried.Jack and Aviva were great together, but the plot was what hooked me. I wanted to find justice for Avivaâs brother just like she did, and I loved that she never gave up even if no one believed her. I loved this book, and I canât wait for Isaacâs story next!

Dark and toxic
I absolutely loved the push and pull between Jack and Aviva. Their relationship was so messy and so toxic but at the same time, having Jack not take no for an answer made their relationship easy because at the end only the day until he said otherwise she is always his. I also really liked that the characters were smart and had intelligent thoughts as dumb as that sounds but it made it even better, I can’t fully explain why but even in the explanations of characters like Isaac where he wants you to think he’s a flirt and not the brightest he actually is and he’s so insightful it just added to the story. The conflicts in this story were many and i think the way they were solved and dealt with was so good down to the very end. At every turn you’re rooting for Jack and Aviva and then you get reminded of the big obstacle that was sitting in front of them. The supporting characters advice and thought process brought you out of the darkness of some of Jack’s decisions and helped even more to shed light on the problematic ways he went about things. I will definitely be reading his brothers books because the second I heard another man in the bed in the phone call, my spidey senses perked up at the possibility of a why choose. My final talking point, the spice. I have no words. There was nothing I wanted more of or less of it was so good. The only thing I will say is the net scene was insane, like just randomly in the net?! No prep?! Crazy but i mean you have to suspend your belief some where right? Anywho I wish I could say I’ll be waiting for my Jack but I don’t think i have the strength that Aviva does because there were many moments I would have tapped out.

I love a good dark hockey romance and when I found this book, it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. In some ways it was. Jack and Aviva start out as enemies because Aviva is trying to get justice for her brother and in her pursuit, threatens to bring down Jack’s hockey team. Jack finds out, blackmails her, and forces her into a physical relationship with him.Where things fell flat for me. I have no issues with the darker themes of this book. However, it felt almost hypocritical that a large piece of this story revolved around the abuse her brother was subjected to and then Aviva basically allows Jack to sexually exploit her and that she’d just go through with it. It also stood out to me that Aviva was constantly having men try to abuse their authority over her or she would have an internal monologue about men abusing power/authority but just gives into Jack’s bullying and sexual demands. This definitely took away from the story and made Aviva’s actions feel less authentic.
