Simple but amazing
I have a cavapoo and despite the brushing and combing, he still gets matted on his chest, behind his ears and the back of his legs. I hated taking him to the groomers bc he always came back bald bc they claim they couldnât get the knots out. This thing right here is freaking AMAZING!!! Iâve tried all the other tools, but this thing makes it so easy to get directly through the knots and tangles without having to shave my baby all the way down. I LOVE this thing!!! Iâve given one to a neighbor who also has a poodle mix and she was amazed. Iâm going to take this to the groomer next time, ask that they use it instead of making him bald. But once I figure out his nails and private, Iâm scared to do those spots..lol but once I figure it out, no more groomers!!!

A different use
This item caught my eye as I was looking for flea combs. I’ve seen something similar used to open envelopes and it was a lot easier than using a letter opener and safer than using a knife. It works well and I can have separate ones in different places in my house.

Not great sharpness
I believe these are just standard letter openers being sold as pet hair scissors. Didnât work well with my Norwegian Forest cat

Amazing!
Our cat sucks on her belly when she is settling to sleep as a self soothing behavior. Because of that, she gets mats on her belly frequently and easily. These were a game changer for us. I used to carefully use scissors to cut them out but was always fearful of clipping her skin accidently. Using these to get the mats out is simple and there is no fear of cutting her now.

The only kind that has worked!
My elder cat, born semi-feral in the far north, has short fur but an extremely dense, abundant undercoat. She’s also always been barely tolerant of petting, let alone grooming, and very quick with the claws. Now 16, she develops mats in her fur that are dense all the way down to the skin, and I’ve tried all kinds of combs and de-matting tools. She hates them all, and none of the kinds that are supposed to cut through the mats can get under them enough for the sharp parts to get to them. But this one is different. Only one “tooth”, and a very sharp blade. Mind you, i still have to file the plastic point (with a fine emery board) to make it a little bit narrower so it can get under the mats. I’m super careful to keep that one “tooth” parallel to her skin so it doesn’t poke her, and it works! I can break up a couple of mats with each session before she leaves in disgust. Then she does the rest, since it’s much easier for her.

Makes me nervous to use it
I bought this to remove the occasional matted fur near my dog’s ears or armpits. I used it once very carefully but I could tell it would be really easy to slice a dog’s skin. The prong is too long, it made it hard for me to cut a very small amount of hair at a time. And the blade didn’t cut as easily as I hoped. Then if you’re pulling the hair against the blade it would be easy to accidentally pull your pet’s skin over the blade, too. It’s a good idea in theory but the design isn’t working.

Not very sharp
If you have a pet with really thick hair then these are a little hard to use. They are fine for small knots but arenât sharp enough to cut out bigger mats.
