Simple, lagless, effective
As long as your emitter has extra light to spare, this is an amazing solution to the problem of “I need two outputs and only have one”. In my case, I’ve got an optical out from my TV and would like to run it to both my sound bar and my RF based neck-worn surround sound system. Both of these take an optical in, and I don’t want to fumble around behind the TV switching between them. The only thing to be aware of is that a splitter will reduce the amount of light going to both outputs, but as this signal is digital, as long as there’s enough emitter power this won’t matter at all. It’s not the same as doing a Y cable and splitting out an electrical connection.

Access to two optical ports
I needed access to two optical ports, one to my soundbar and subwoofer and the second for the wireless headphone charging stand that is hooked to my primary TV. The unit works amazingly well for the price, it canât be beat. Would buy again if needed on one of my other TVâs.

Listen to the manufacture
When I received my TOSLINK-SPLITTER-1X2 for my television/speaker and could not get it to work properly. I tried other manufacture splitters and sent them back. I contacted BlueRigger and within literally minutes had a answer to my problem. That’s exceptional customer service. Thank you all

Works great, except for one thing…
The BlueRigger 1×2 Toslink splitter was a snap to install and sends an excellent signal to both my soundbar and my Onkyo TX-8220 receiver – as if they were directly connected. I had tried an adapter with one Toslink and RCA jacks previously with another receiver that had only analog inputs, and that was less than satisfactory because the analog output was too low to adequately drive the receiver. I have no such issues with the BlueRigger. Unfortunately, my Samsung Smart TV no longer recognizes the soundbar, and also doesn’t recognize the receiver, even when only one is powered on. I have to use the dedicated remote for either the soundbar or the receiver to adjust the volume. Not sure why I could control the volume on the soundbar with the old adapter, but not with the BlueRigger, but it’s a relatively minor inconvenience. The price of the BlueRigger is also a bit high, which surprises me mostly because the old Toslink/RCA adapter cost less, and I’d have thought a unit with its own DAC would be more expensive.

How Can You Go Wrong With a Passive Splitter?
My LG TV has a single optical output. I use it to feed both my stereo and my sound bar (that way I can use the sound bar as a center speaker for movies with the stereo). Normally I just use the sound bar. I have a fully working and functional active optical splitter that I was using (and am still using). I figured Iâd clean up the mess behind my TV with a passive optical splitter (no power supply). That didnât work out at all!If you look closely at the end of a standard Toslink optical cable you will notice that the end is not quite square. There are two small ridges sticking out on opposite sides and one side is perfectly flat and one side has the corners slightly notched off. Why the hell they did that I cannot imagine since a perfectly round connector would have made more sense – But thatâs the Toslink standardâ¦The two female optical jacks do not actually match the shape of the Toslink connector – At least not on the one I got. It has the two ridges but the two other sides are identical – unlike the actual optical connectors. The male end is properly shaped. By the way I am a now retired Electronic Engineer – I do know how to insert connectors. No matter what orientation I tried on the weird connector neither my sound bar nor stereo received the optical input – I assume the problem is that the connectors were not fully aligned and engaged. To answer my titleâs question – âHow can you go wrong with a passive splitter.â The answer is if you use the wrong connector or the splitter is improperly assembled! For the seller or manufacturer – Donât bother asking, this review stays up.

Works great for splitting the single TV audio output to two devices
This replaced the old school RCB audio cables from the TV to the audio system and the soundbar.

There is not a lot of tech in optical splitters but you do want the essentials to work properly. The BlueRigger product is well constructed and works like a charm. Happy camper here.
