The Ultimate Digital Notebook for Focused Users, but Not for Everyone
The reMarkable 2 has been a game-changer for me, especially since I wasnât familiar with paper tablets until recently. My journey started with the Kindle Scribe, which I initially bought for reading on a larger screen. Once I discovered the joy of note-taking on an E-Ink tablet, I delved deeper into the market and stumbled across the reMarkable 2, which is often hailed as one of the best in its category. Thatâs when I decided to give it a try, seeking a more refined, âpaper-likeâ experience compared to the Kindle Scribe. Now, Iâm absolutely hooked on the reMarkable 2, carrying it with me everywhere. The device fits seamlessly into my daily routine, but whenever colleagues ask about it, I give them this disclaimer: âI love it, but Iâd never recommend it lightly.âThe key here is that anyone interested in the reMarkable 2 must first do their homework. Itâs essential to understand its specific use case and the design philosophy behind it. Unlike many gadgets that try to do everything fairly well, the reMarkable 2 is a specialized tool that excels at one thingâreplicating the paper notebook experience digitally. For that, itâs nearly unparalleled. However, this specialization comes with trade-offs. The reMarkable 2 is highly focused and minimalist. It lacks many features that modern tablet users might take for granted: thereâs no email access, no web browser, no third-party apps, and you wonât find social media or even a backlight for nighttime use. For some, this can feel like a âdumbed-downâ tablet, especially given that at its price point, you could opt for an iPad or other E Ink tablets with more functionality. If youâre looking for a multi-purpose device, this might seem limiting and even frustrating. That said, the writing experience on the reMarkable 2 is where it shines. The textured E-Ink display combined with the Marker offers a tactile feel that closely mimics writing on paper. With pressure sensitivity and multiple pen options, itâs incredibly responsive, making it perfect for note-taking, sketching, and journaling. However, it may fall short for artists looking for a more versatile tool since the drawing features are limited compared to more advanced tablets.Where the reMarkable 2 does offer some digital conveniences is in its cloud syncing capabilities. With their Connect service (which costs $3/month after a free trial), you can sync your notes across devices, giving you access to your notebooks on your phone or computer. For me, this feature justifies the subscription cost because it adds an extra layer of productivity, allowing me to keep my notes organized and accessible anytime, anywhere.Ultimately, the reMarkable 2 is ideal for people who are looking for a distraction-free, premium notebook replacement that delivers on its promise of a paper-like experience. Itâs elegant, well-built, and high quality, but itâs also designed for a very specific use case. If youâre someone who wants more functionality or expects a typical tablet experience, there are better alternatives in both the tablet and E-Ink markets. But if you value simplicity, focus, and a top-tier writing experience, the reMarkable 2 is the way to go.I personally use it daily and even bought one for my wife. But I also recognize that for some, it may not hit the mark. As I always say, do your research before committing to it.

I’m Done With Paper Notebooks!!!
I recently started a new job. The CEO got tired of misplaced or illegible notes, so the Remarkable 2 became a requirement for the Executive Team.I have a short attention span and habitually take notes during meetings/discussions, so I’ve always loved a good notebook. I was skeptical and a little annoyed when I was told a $500 “notebook” was a requirement for my new role. After a week of use, I’ll never take notes on paper again. While it is a digital device, the Remarkable 2 isn’t much more complicated than a legal pad. It’s every bit as thin as a standard notepad, and the sensation of writing is surprisingly close to pen and paper. It wakes from sleep instantly, and and is surprisingly responsive. The ability to create and organize new notes is incredible, and navigating your library is fast and simple. There are so many templates I haven’t had time to use a fraction of them. If you can’t find a suitable template, you can create a PDF and upload it. Your notes are synced to your Remarkable account and can be viewed online in near real-time.The Remarkable 2 is expensive, but I find it worth the price. I no longer have to keep up with multiple notebooks, or flip through pages at the start of a meeting. My only complaints are that it charges very slowly and if you use it throughout the day every day like me, the battery life is less than impressive. Otherwise it’s an excellent alternative to paper without the complications of a normal tablet.

5-months in…I love this thing
I wanted to work with this before writing a review. I’ve been using it for 5 months now and can say, unequivocally, that this is a great product.Writing experienceAs a pen aficionado, I’ve been surprised at how much I enjoy writing with this. I have the pen that erases. I’m on my second pen tip and use it almost daily, so it has pretty good ‘tip life’. The writing experience is really nice. Took no adjustment on my part. The PlatformIt’s easy to navigate. Easy to categorize and name documents and organize folders. I don’t use the handwriting to text feature bc my writing doesn’t translate well, so I can’t comment on that. However, where before I was carrying around multiple notebooks for different areas of my life, now I have just one. One! And it contains my work notes, my construction notes, my volunteer work notes, PDFs that I’ve downloaded. Drawings I’ve made. It’s so efficient. And I’ve never run out of battery life.SummaryI was concerned that I wouldn’t take to this given my pen/paper fondness, but the Remarkable has truly delivered. This is not cheap, but well worth the investment thus far. I recommend it.

Game Changer for Note-Taking!
We purchased the reMarkable Starter Bundle, and we are loving it! The reMarkable 2 tablet is truly a revolutionary tool for anyone who enjoys writing or drawing.Pros:Paper-Like Experience: The 10.3â display feels just like writing on paper, which is fantastic for our note-taking and sketching.Marker Plus Pen: The included pen with a built-in eraser is a huge bonus. It glides smoothly across the surface, and the eraser function is super convenient.Lightweight and Portable: The tablet is slim and easy to carry, making it perfect for on-the-go use.Free Connect Trial: The trial period allows me to explore the cloud features without commitment, which is a nice touch.Cons:Limited App Integration: While it excels at note-taking, we wish it had more app options for enhanced functionality.Overall, we highly recommend the reMarkable Starter Bundle for anyone looking to combine the digital and analog worlds. Itâs an excellent investment!

This product has exceeded my expectations. I wanted it to use for when I did job estimates to take notes and markup site drawings. But I can also connect to my onedrive and google drive and access my pdf library and read all my favorite books. In addition to that because it can connect directly to wifi, its linked to my mobile device. I can access a document from my phone or tablet after I have been in the field and marked it up. Now its on my laptop and I can load the marked up document into my estimating platform. Very good product. Its just like writing on paper, except you can erase and save and your not wasting paper!! Love it. Battery life is great. I only charge it once a week and I use it everyday. Highly recommend it!!!
