I remember these from when my daughters were growing up and how much they loved and enjoyed playing with their spirographs. So for Christmas this year I ended up buying three of these for each of my granddaughters to play with as I try to buy them activities versus just mindless toys or screen toys. These were a huge hit and my grand babies loved them. This is an activity that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike and is perfect to play with for an afternoon at grandmas house. I will say however that this is probably better suited for kids 7 and older as my younger grand daughter did have a harder time coordinating the different pieces. She eventually figured it out and it worked out great but I think younger kids might become easily frustrated if they couldn’t manage the different aspects of this set.The reason I didn’t give it five out of five stars is namely because the set does in fact contain 45 pieces however half of those pieces are as others have already stated only paper. How silly to count 20 pieces of paper! The set itself otherwise is very detailed and I would highly recommend otherwise.As others have already mentioned we did really enjoy these with gel pens. This set comes with three different colors but with the gel pens you can really get creative with the different colors and designs and that makes the spirograph set even better!! We will have to try the black paper trick as we didn’t even consider that option however it seems like that could take this to a whole new level.Overall we highly recommend this spirograph set and it is totally something worth trying and experiencing!

Bought this for my grandchildren to enjoy when they come visit. Loved using these myself when I was a child. They had never seen them before. It was a massive hit. They couldnât get over the beautiful designs. They were able to create. My six-year-old granddaughter asked me to get her her own set for Christmas this year. Great purchase, glad the fun still holds up after all these years.

It’s exactly like you remember
This brought me back to a better time, with better toys. I had a similar set in the late 70s. But this is tighter and cleaner and with a great carrying case. I thought the “holding putty” would be a gimmick, but it really does work to keep the pieces in place. It’s helps you avoid what i’ve always called “knuckle busters” where slipping just a tiny bit ruins an otherwise gorgeous design. I’m glad I bought it – and my kids are, also. It’s really a no brainer to have this for your kids or your days when you simply want to kill some time doing something from a time we’ve seem to forgotten.

They FINALLY made the Holes a Little Larger to Accommodate Most Other Pens!
I bought this for my Grandson who just turned six. I was worried that it may be too hard for him to manipulate and use because the age range says 8 yrs +. However, since he’s artistic and brilliant (I’m not biased at all) I had faith that he would have the coordination and be able to use the set.I was absolutely right! He loves the spirograph and has made some beautiful designs!I had also bought him a set of multicolored Papermate InkJoy pens (.7 mm) to go along with the pens that came with the set and they work marvelously! Confession: Nana (that’s me) had fun playing with the Spirograph as well! Brought back some wonderful childhood memories! Spirograph still rocks! I wish they had the larger “Wild Gears” or similar sets at a more reasonable price. I would buy one for my Grandkids but also for myself! As it is, we’ll have to stick with the original set for now.

We graphed the most amazing creations. Good hand to eye coordination. Watching their faces as the shapes started to appear. I just set up on the dining room table. Then one at a time they gathered with “Can I try Spirograph?”Strongly recommended for kids and kids at heart
